Marriott Autograph Collection Hotels in Orlando.Extended Stay America Hotels in Orlando. If you can’t, remember that you can eat at Downtown Disney any time you are in Orlando – you do not need any special tickets to shop or eat there. So go check this place out if you have a chance to fit it into your schedule. Complete with fossilized dinosaurs!Īlthough, if you’re an adult party, the bar area has a pretty interesting theme too, not to mention a beautiful and entrancing fish tank.Īnd, on your way out, let your kids take a minute to dig for fossils. If you are a Landry Select member – bonus! – you can show up any time, without a reservation, and you get to skip the walk-in line completely, just as if you did reserve a table.Īnd, if you have the chance to request the glacier room, I thought it was definitely the “coolest” area to eat in, pun intended. Book ahead of time if you are not a Landry Select member. This can be a difficult place to find a reservation at, though. Truly, I’ve eaten at a lot of Disney restaurants and not felt that the wait staff was very good for the amount of tip that they request, but the T-Rex waitstaff go above and beyond (I guess it’s not technically a Disney restaurant either). It’s one of the few places I’ve been to where I can say that they are really earning that 18% requested tip and trying to win you over by killing you with kindness. The staff is also very friendly and attentive. After hearing a hundred recommendations for eating something with red meat, I found this philly cheese steak on the menu, and it was heavenly. But I dare say that the quality of the food is much better. I would say the menu style reminds me of an Applebees, with everything from sandwiches to pastas and more. But, anyone with kids who live dinosaurs should make it a point to eat at T-Rex! Especially if you are a fan of good beef! Now, I will warn you, T-Rex is loud, it’s kind of dark, and it’s a nutty atmosphere, so this may not be the place to take grandma and grandpa for an anniversary meal. All of the robotic dinosaurs react as well, and will do different noises and motions, even when there’s no pending threat of a meteor impact. We sat by the baby Wooly Mamoths, and every 30-ish minutes a meteor shower would start up and the babies would get panicky. The walls of T-Rex are not walls at all, but different 3D displays of animatronic dinosaurs and ice age era beast. If you haven’t found an excuse to order yourself a Landry’s Select Club Card ($25 for life, and you get a $25 gift card as soon as you activate your club card – more details ), please get one and go visit T-Rex in Downtown Disney! On your way out of the T-Rex building, be sure to stop by the sand pit and dig for fossils! No charge! You CAN call Build-A-Bear later on with your Build-A-Dino receipt information and get the points put onto your Stuff-Fur-Stuff card. You CANNOT get credit on your Stuff-Fur-Stuff card in the store. You CAN use Build-A-Bear gift cards or reward certificates. You CANNOT use Build-A-Bear coupons or codes. You DO NOT have to eat or have a reservation at T-Rex to shop at Build-A-Dino. I usually get moms asking me for tidbits, so here are some of the key things to know: There are also lots of clothes and accessories for the dino-pals, and I believe the bulk of those are exclusive to Build-A-Dino as well, but I’m a cheap, cheap woman who did not indulge her kids on that end of things! □ Just like a regular Build-A-Bear, your kids will stuff, “wash,” and make a birth certificate for their new friend. I feel like we’re up to our eyeballs in Build-A-Bear “friends” at home, but this was part of a birthday trip, and these guys aren’t readily findable anywhere else, so we caved and bought some new buddies. As far as I’m aware, Build-A-Dino only exists as a boutique inside of T-Rex restaurants – which are few and far in terms of availability. So, instead of teddy bears and kitty cats, you’ll find brontosauruses and pterodactyls. Inside of the T-Rex restaurant is a dinosaur themed store, and, in the back of that, you can find Build-A-Dino!īuild-A-Dino is a spin off to the Build-A-Bear franchise, except, obviously, everything is prehistorically themed. Recommended: Yes if you’re looking for a unique gift or souvenir.
